Archery
When shooting an arrow an archer assumes the correct stance. This is where the body is perpendicular to the target and the shooting line. The feet should be placed shoulder width apart.
When loading the bow, the bow is pointed towards the ground and the shaft of the arrow is placed on a rest which is attached in the bow window. The back of the arrow has a small groove in it which allows the bow string to rest along it.
The string and arrow are then held with 3 fingers. If using a sight, the index finger is usually placed above the arrow, with the other tw placed beneath.
The bow is then raised and drawn. When the archer is happy that they have aimed correctly they relax their fingers which releases the string. The arrow is then propelled towards the target.
Archery is now an olympic sport. The winner is the peson who gains the most points from their arrows. An archery target is circular and has 5 coloured rings, each with two rings, so ten rings in total. Starting from the outer two white, the points go from one point to ten points for hitting the centre yellow circle.
